I took these photos while standing speechless at ground zero in March of 2008.

The entire site was under construction, it still is, so I stuck my camera through a gap in the orange fence to take a picture of the massive hole in the ground that stood where two buildings once were. The entire area had a quiet, somber air about it; I found myself whispering to a friend and wondering why I was whispering.

I can’t believe it’s been eight years.
