Lynn and I attended the Shecky’s Girls Night Out event Thursday night and had the best time. The event promised shopping deals, free drinks and a talked-about goodie bag with more than $100 worth of surprises for only $15. But you don’t have to buy the goodie bag to attend, you can RSVP for free.
If you followed my Twitter that night, you would know that the place was packed (the event took place in the Great Hall inside of Union Station), but even though there were girls everywhere, people were actually being nice to each other! I was surprised because when you put hundreds of tipsy girls in a room together, the situation isn’t always pretty.
After sneakily cutting a massive line to check in and get our wrist bands, we beelined for the bar area. Drinks weren’t hard to come by. They had stations with Midori and Skyy Citrus cocktails, X-rated flirtinis, Polka Dot wine, Ballatore champagne (!), Bud Light, Bacardi Limon and flavored Michelob Ultra beer. There were also men walking around with platters of drinks for the taking.
They had hundreds of designers from around the country selling hot items at discounted prices. In my opinion many items were overpriced and the clothes were not impressive in any way, but it was the jewlery tables that boasted the best deals.
I will definitely be attending Girls Night Out again when it comes back to Chicago (in April), but check out the Shecky’s Web site to see when it’s coming to a major city near you.
